Teacher Shortage in Delaware
The Delaware teacher shortage has forced districts to rely on substitutes or underqualified staff, which compromises instruction. According to the University of Delaware, the most critical subject areas include math, science, world languages, special education, and elementary education.
The most recent Teacher Shortage report showed over 500 vacancies during the 2022–23 school year, leaving many schools without enough certified teachers.
