Arizona has a critical teacher shortage that affects the education its students are receiving. According to AZ ED News, “The data indicates about 28% of teacher vacancies across the state this year remain unfilled while half of the vacancies are filled by teachers who do not meet the state’s standard certification requirements.” Uncertified teachers have not completed all of their training and are not qualified to educate students. Arizona students are suffering. Ultimately, the most recent teacher shortage report shows 2,890 teacher vacancies plus 5,036 under-qualified teachers in Arizona during the 2022-23 school year.
Teacher Shortage reports claim, "Based on news and state reports, we estimate that there are at least 55,000 vacant teacher positions in the United States."
