Addressing the Wisconsin Teacher Shortage

A Learning Model Built for Student Success
Proximity Learning provides interactive, always-live instruction so students in your district get consistent, high-quality instruction. Unlike pre-recorded video lectures, our certified teachers livestream lessons to create a real classroom environment. This proven model helps school districts across Wisconsin address the teacher shortage while ensuring students receive the instruction they need every school year.
Proximity Learning uses interactive live instruction to make sure that students in your district are getting the best instruction possible. The goal of ELIM is to stimulate a classroom environment through ALWAYS live instruction from a teacher via streaming video.
The Proximity Learning Difference
Live, Synchronous Instruction
Certified teachers are livestreamed directly into your school. Sessions align with your bell schedule, giving students uninterrupted learning that is more reliable than new teachers or temporary fixes. This approach ensures consistent instruction for students while helping districts manage vacancies more effectively.
We livestream our certified virtual teachers right into your district classroom. Your dedicated team works with your district to fit with your school’s bell schedule and other needs.

Built by Educators, for Educators
Our partnership directors include former superintendents, principals, and experienced teachers who have seen the impact of vacancies on students. They know how the challenge starts when qualified teachers are missing, and they work with districts to provide solutions that reduce turnover and keep instruction consistent.
Our partnership directors are past superintendents, principals and teachers who understand the harm that long-term vacancies can have on students.

Teacher shortage in Wisconsin
The Wisconsin teacher shortage is affecting school districts across the state, making it harder for students to access the consistent instruction they deserve. A new report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (WDPI) revealed that "Wisconsin educators continue to leave the state’s workforce at an alarming rate."
According to the latest Teacher Shortage report, there were 467 open teaching positions and 4,507 underqualified teachers in Wisconsin during the 2022-23 school year. This reality affects schools, students, and the broader communities that rely on a strong public school system.
Teacher Shortage reports also estimate there are at least 55,000 vacant teaching positions nationwide. The state superintendent, Jill Underly, has acknowledged the state’s responsibility to provide resources and funding to address these challenges and create pathways for more teachers to enter and remain in the profession.
