Teacher shortage in Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania teacher shortage is one of the most pressing challenges for school districts. According to a PBS report, there are over 2,000 vacant teaching positions and 6,500 teachers working under emergency certifications or emergency permits. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has also flagged rising vacancies, and teachers leave the workforce at an alarming rate.
