Rylee King of Tuloso-Midway High School is the recipient of the 2021 Proximity Learning scholarship. Proximity is proud to award this outstanding student $1,000 in partnership with the Texas Association of Community Schools to pursue her higher education goals.

Rylee is deeply involved in her community and has led service work through multiple organizations including Nueces Animal Shelter, BPA Special Olympics, and the Nueces 4-H Club. As an equine ambassador with a passion for animals, Rylee has dedicated her time to introducing her community to the benefits of agriculture, equine therapy, and advocating for life science and animal education programs in schools.

Rylee’s passion for horses and livestock was inspired by her great grandmother’s small farm in South Texas. Understanding the importance of a veterinarian’s role in animal health began at an early age for Rylee when she received her first pony at two years old. From that moment, Rylee knew it was her destiny to care for animals of all shapes and sizes.

“I have always been fascinated with science and animals and as I watched my veterinarian in action, my curiosity grew stronger. I then realized that caring for animals was what I loved to do, and I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.”

Rylee has committed herself to rigorous studies in advanced math and science courses to ensure she is prepared for the road ahead. In addition to her involvement in the National Honors Society, she enjoys leisurely activities like baking, painting, and photography. Rylee will be attending Texas A&M University and majoring in biomedical sciences in the fall.

Proximity is committed to providing quality education to all students with the hope that they will continue to pursue their passions in college and beyond. The Proximity Learning, Inc. Scholarship is available to all graduating seniors in TACS schools who are attending a Texas university.
