Synchronous Instruction Linked To Increased Standardized Test Scores In Peer-Reviewed Study

Proximity Learning Inc., an ESS company and the pioneering provider of synchronous virtual instruction for K-12 education, announced the results of a published peer-reviewed study from Chicago State University, which found standardized test scores of eighth and ninth grade students with access to a certified Proximity Learning teacher outperformed those of students in classrooms that lacked the same access.
Key findings from the report include:
- In 2021 across all subjects analyzed, the aggregated mean test scores of students in the fourth through 11th grades with access to Proximity Learning instruction or facilitation were more than 11 points higher than their peers who lacked similar access.
- In 2022, the mean aggregate scores of students with access to Proximity Learning were nearly eight points higher in the same subjects.
- In 2021, aggregated mean scores among eighth graders with access to Proximity Learning were more than 10 points higher overall, more than six points higher in English Language Arts and almost four points higher in science.
- In 2022, aggregated mean scores among ninth graders with access to Proximity Learning were more than 12 points higher in Algebra I, more than four points higher in English I and more than seven points higher in English II.
